As the country begins to exit lockdown, we are all looking forward to seeing the people we love and doing the things we have missed. For the members of the Granite Lodge in Leicester, this means being able to resume meetings with the people that have supported us through this trying time.

Leicester Freemasons gift to Lifelites Charity

Lifelites is the charity which gives life-limited and disabled children using hospice services the chance to play, be creative, control something for themselves and communicate. All through the magic of assistive technology.

The charity has recently received a donation of £2,000 from Leicester Freemasons to assist with the supply of assistive technology.

Marching Masons

Members of The Granite Lodge, their family, and friends will be walking parts or all of the Leicestershire Round to raise funds for charity.

The official countdown is on for hundreds of Freemasons, family, and friends, who will be participating in a walk to raise funds for the Leicestershire & Rutland 2022 festival over the two weekends of the 2nd & 3rd and 9th & 10th October 2021.

The walk will be the famous Leicestershire Round, and depending on ability and fitness levels, people will either complete a short route, one day, or the entire route consisting of four parts, each covering twenty-five miles per day. Some are even preparing to tackle the entire distance in one go!

There is no barrier to entry, anyone can participate regardless of age or ability. With the recent restrictions on exercise being relaxed, preparations can now start formally, however remaining vigilant about safety and social distancing.

“I did it my way” Our Lodge Secretary in Leicester

A Freemasons Lodge has a familiar form to anyone who is involved with a membership organisation, someone to lead the team, someone to collect the monies, a team of people, or committee, to make decisions, and someone to take down the actions and apply due process where it is required.

Lodge of Research Publishes Lost Papers

Granite Lodges’ secretary Richard Barnett is proud to be a member of the Lodge of Research, a Lodge dedicated to researching further understanding of Freemasonry within the county.

When the Loughborough Hoard of Masonic artefacts were discovered behind a panel in the storeroom at Loughborough Masonic Hall in September 2017, they were found to contain many handwritten lectures by Frederick Fleeman, who had been Master of Howe and Charnwood Lodge, No.1007, in 1916, Founder and Primus Master of Beacon Lodge, No.5208, in 1930 and Master of The Lodge of Research, No.2429, in 1940.
