A Welcome Gift for the Neonatal Unit

This donation marked the culmination of a successful year under Mark’s leadership, during which the Lodge raised over £4,000 for local charities and good causes. Special recognition goes to Simon Pegg, the Lodge’s Charity Steward, for his dedication and hard work throughout the year.

Revitalizing Charity Efforts

Post-COVID, the Lodge of Welcome experienced a resurgence in its charitable activities, spearheaded by Simon Pegg’s vision to create a thriving charitable environment. Simon established a Lodge Charity Committee and introduced a £5 monthly standing order system for brethren (with some giving more or contributing one-off donations). He also organized raffles, competitions, and other initiatives to bolster fundraising efforts. One notable event—a Christmas Lodge night—raised £1,000 in cash for charity.

The Lodge’s efforts have made a significant impact in the local community, with donations supporting organizations such as The Baldwin Trust, the Air Ambulance, and Kaleidoscope, among others. A particularly cherished tradition has been hosting brethren from Devonshire Court for an annual Christmas Lodge, a popular event overseen by W. Bro John Pinnock and funded by the Lodge Charity Fund.

Making a Difference

Over the past 12 months, the Lodge of Welcome has donated over £6,000 to various local charities and causes. Their latest high-profile contribution—the purchase of a height-adjustable cot for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Neonatal Unit—exemplifies their commitment to making a tangible difference in the community.

The Lodge of Welcome continues to uphold its legacy of charity and support, ensuring their efforts leave a lasting impact on those in need.
