Hinckley Masons from the Knights of Malta Lodge No. 50 embarked on a mission to raise funds for Guide Dogs through the generous contributions of their members, families, and friends.
The centerpiece of their efforts was a fundraising event at the Steam Railway Fun Day held at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire.
Funds were raised from a combination of sources: contributions from Lodge members and their networks, a generous donation from the Echills Wood Railway (EWR), which pledged all ticket sales revenue from the day, and additional public donations collected by representatives from Guide Dogs. Visitors enjoyed scenic train rides, with ticket sales adding to the fundraising total.
The event raised £4,000, a figure that was doubled by the Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons’ Charity, bringing the final donation to £8,000. These funds will be used locally to support Guide Dogs, enhancing their impactful work in the community.
